So Nora kind of loves Ophiuchus now. Ultimately Nora is a lazy fucker. He pitched in and helped out at Canis because he had to in order to survive. Whether it was true or not, he felt like he had the entire team depending on him. He had to perform, had to do his part, not just for himself but for his team. Now that no one is depending on him and his own comfort isn't determined by how hard he works, he's reverting to more of the selfish brat he was in canon. On some level, while he says he asks for things to spare the reg-blanks, really he just likes having people wait on him.

And he's spoiled, too. Nora gets away with a lot just because he's cute. Technically, he owes Canis, Orion, Monoceros, and Pyxis favors, yet it's quite possible that these favors will never be collected. He's certainly never planning on mentioning it. And if he could get away with more, he would. Watanuki comes in regularly and cooks for the whole team, and when he's not, Nora can bother River to cook for him. If Kieran doesn't pick up after him, he can pay someone else to do it, and he will. Kieran washes his hair for him, and there are at least four teams that he could bedninja someone in, for free, and if that wasn't a possibility, he would happily attempt to slip into a fellow Ophiuchus bed.

So yes. Nora loev Ophi.

Belted collared thigh-length sleeveless coat. Over that is a collared long-sleeve jacket that ends at about mid- to upper-chest. Also he has nice black knee-high boots. It looks very military, but without insignia.

So one of the most interesting things about Nora's development in Sabra, in my mind anyway, is what happened when we stripped the I AM A TOUGH GUY walls away from him.

Okay, so. Nora had a breakdown.

Cerberus, by their very nature, are not meant to be leaders. Newest canon even spells it out that a Cerberus is made to be controlled, and can't even really control themselves. So Nora stepping up to lead was a big deal for him. But the problem is that Nora couldn't maintain that kind of thing. So he led Canis, but at the cost of his own stability.

In canon, this would have resulted in world destruction.

Fortunately! The bracer prevented this. So Nora just spent a week kind of out of it. But! His magic, henceforth named Chaos because I said so, is never content just to stand by, and will take every opportunity to break out that it can. So Chaos, held in check for that long by the bracer, decided to test out its powers and see whether it could break out over the bracer or not, since it can break out over the collar, which is a lot more restrictive.

Thus the discussion between Nora and Chaos. Chaos knows Nora better than anyone else does, and it knows how to pick at Nora to make him give up. It backfires, but only because Nora cares so much about the people in Sabra. Nora really can't let his guard down with Chaos, and he can't really get help from anyone with Chaos, because Chaos really is Nora, just... different. It's hard to explain. But essentially, Chaos wants to kill everything because it can, and Nora's concentration has to go to maintaining his own stability in order to prevent that.

...I THINK THAT MAKES SENSE.

So that's really the biggest reason Nora can't be a leader. Because he is mentally incapable of splitting his attention enough to care for his team AND control himself. It's also why he needs a leader, because whether he realizes it or not, so much of his mental energy goes towards just maintaining the status quo that he can't stop and really deal with all the things taking care of even himself requires.

So basically, when he took over Canis, he stopped maintaining his own mental status quo, and from there it was only a matter of time before he broke and/or Chaos took over.

...yeah, Nora's life kinda sucks.

So, Nora is having a breakdown.

ICly, this is because of all of the pressure he's been under and the fact that he is not built to be a leader or to mature as much as he had to. Kirk had been pushing him to break for a while, and once the pressure eased up, even just a little, Nora snapped. He's not actually capable of dealing with anything right now, and won't be for a while.

OOCly, I need to set Nora aside and try to get my other characters' voices back. I've never been all that great with juggling characters, and it's just gotten worse as I've gotten more. If I want to keep all three for any length of time, I need to set Nora aside in a way that keeps me from playing him as often, so that I have to play Ilpa and Othar.

So that is the plan. Nora is not officially hiatused, but more like he's on auto-pilot. It would be safe to assume that he follows Ushahin, Kirk, or a Canis around at all times, though given how protective Ushahin is being of him, it's probably best to assume Ushahin's not letting anyone keep Nora but himself.

Anyway, should you want Nora and I'm on but don't have him out, ping me. He can basically show up in any post Ushahin, Kirk, or a Canis is already in. But he won't be wandering around on his own for a while.

I've been meaning to essay about this.

Okay. So especially now, Canis hunts basically every day. Even when they weren't actively hunting, though, they were fishing.

After the initial battle with Beast (the ruined hunt) Nora was pissed. He was absolutely enraged, because that was HIS KILL. He killed it, not Beast, and leaving it there to rot really bothered him. Then came the raptor attack. And yes, Nora was pissed as hell about it. But now he had some respect for Beast. After all, this wasn't just the work of a scavenger who couldn't fight for itself anymore. When it was just Beast using a dead frozen body and scaring them with noises of things that might or might not actually be there, Nora felt like this was just a stupid scare tactic and he was pissed that it worked. But the raptors proved that Beast was capable of backing up his threats. And Nora can respect that.

Since then, Nora has been leaving a bit of meat behind every time he hunts. For lizards, large and small, he leaves the organs and a chunk of the ribs. These he arranges (yes, arranges) so that the ribcage is acting like a plate, holding the organ meat in it.

The T-rex was a special case, and he only got half of what was there. But again, he left part of the ribs, and any organ meat Canis got.

With fish, Nora leaves the guts, the head, and the tail. The head and tail he flings out as far as he can towards the center of the lake for the larger fish. The guts, however, he keeps and spreads along the shallows. This has the added benefit of bringing more fish closer to shore.

Nora hasn't quite decided what to do with squidrats, bearbees, and beebats. The problem with squidrats is that even he's aware that it's not really a sacrifice if you didn't want it to begin with. And the only real encounter they've had with bearbees ended with Nora dedicating everything they couldn't reach to Beast.

Nora is ALWAYS ADAMANT that whatever they kill, it must be left near the kill site, or (to protect it from greedy blanks) the part of the caves closest to the kill site. He makes sure to then tell Beast that the offering is his, and that Beast should accept the offering and not kill Canis. This is never particularly eloquent, but I'm sure the point gets across.
